Warner Brothers Releasing Entire 2021 Movie Slate On HBO Max!

Today Warner Bros. has shocked the movie world by announcing that all their new movies coming in 2021 will be in both theaters and on HBO Max! When new films are on HBO Max, they will only be there for a month, which is still enough time to watch it.

Heres’ there official post from HBO Max:

Here’s a list of films coming in 2021:

Mortal KombatJan 15
The Little ThingsJan 29
Tom and JerryMar 5
The Many Saints of NewarkMar 12
ReminiscenceApr 16
Godzilla vs. KongMay 21
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do ItJun 4

Space Jam: A New LegacyJul 16
The Suicide SquadAug 6
DuneOct 1
ElvisNov 5
King RichardNov 19
Matrix 4Dec 22
Judas and the Black MessiahTBA
MalignantTBA
Those Who Wish Me DeadTBA

This was a huge power move from WB! I said time and time again that releasing films digital is the way to go. With WB releasing new films on HBO Max by just subscribing to the service, it makes me wonder what other studios will do, especially Disney. I love Disney, but I would rather pay for a subscription and be available for a limited time than pay $30 for a film that will still come on Disney Plus.

Do I think this will kill theaters? No, but it’s a big blow. If the pandemic wasn’t happening, I would still pay for a ticket to watch a big film in IMAX. Regardless, as of now, this is the best way to release films to earn profit both digitally and in theaters.
