In a recent interview with Collider, Benedict Cumberbatch was asked if he’ll play a live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars. The reason why the question has been asked it’s because people have been fan casting him to play Thrawn, even me!
Here’s what Cumberbatch said when asked if he’ll play Thrawn:
That’s a straight no from me, right now. There’s no way I want to be turned blue. I turned the air blue, very recently. No no, seriously, I have precious time with my children and I think sitting in a makeup chair and being painted blue, and the amount of time it would take to do that and then take it off at the end of the day might just… it’s not the right time in my life for that.
Well, I guess we can cross Cumberbatch off our list. His statement is understandable, he’s already busy playing Doctor Strange (perfect fan casting), so him wanting to make room being with his family is something I know a lot of actors would want to do. I guess we’ll see who’ll play Thrawn in the fuiture, hell, even Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn’s voice actor in Star Wars Rebels) would be amazing.
