‘Venom 2’ Delayed!

Well, I wasn’t expecting this, but Sony’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage has been delayed again. Don’t worry because the film was only pushed back another week from the September release date.

From Deadline, here’s what their article said:

Venom: Let There Be Carnage will now hit theaters a week later than previously announced, on September 24.

The Venom sequel will have the full suite of 3D, IMAX and premium large format screens. It will open opposite Paramount’s Antoine Fuqua actioner InfiniteSopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, Michael Showalter’s The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of acclaimed Broadway musical, Dear Evan Hansen.

Until recently, theaters had been closed for the better part of a year in much of the U.S., but with Covid restrictions easing, bigger markets like Los Angeles and New York have started reopening in stages.

The push back makes sense. Another Marvel film that will also come out in September is Shang-Chi, so if Sony wants to use IMAX, Dolby, and other formats for the film, then it was a smart move. I’m ready to go to theaters again, and I want to see Venom 2 in IMAX!
