Finally, after waiting so long for the film to come to America, I finally got the chance to watch Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, and it was worth the wait!
The film takes place where season one of Demon Slayer left off. Tanjiro (Natsuki Hanae), Nezuko (Akari Kitō), Zenitsu (Hiro Shimono), and Inosuke (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) has boarded the infinity train so Tajiro can learn more about Hinokami Kagura from Kyojuro Rengoku (Satoshi Hino), while also dealing with protecting passengers from a demon, who it’s revealed to be a demon named Emmu (Daisuke Hirakawa).
The story for the film was done really good from beginning to end. We got many funny moments and also serious moments that touches the feels. Inosuke and Zenitsu were hilarious, and the ones who had the most touching moments were Tanjiro and Rengoku. Emmu was a good villain to see on the big screen, especially the way he uses his powers on people to sleep and make people have dreams or nightmares. The ending of the film hit me hard, and I had to look at my friend fast to make sure he didn’t see the pain in my eyes. The pacing of the film was fine too, and it felt like a breeze watching it.
The animation for the film was fantastic! Ufotable just continues to show that they’re one of the greatest to ever do it. Even in the final act of the film, Ufotable just goes all out, which was beautiful! The action was top notched, especially whenever Rengoku was on the screen. If you love Demon Slayer‘s animation, then you will not be disappointed with this at all.
The soundtrack was just great. The music in the final act of the film made my heart exploded, and another part involved Tanjiro’s dream. Just great music overall, and it elevated the film for me, especially during the action parts.
My favorite part of the film overall was Rengoku! The confidence, charisma, and personality about Rengoku was so good. Every time he was on screen you felt his presence because you would either laugh or even cry whenever he appeared. Rengoku was just fantastic, and as a manga reader, this was done perfectly.
If I had to nitpick the movie…I got nothing because this film was great.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train is definitely worth the hype. I’ve seen a lot of anime films in my life, and it’s definitely one of the best. Hell, there was people crying in my theater! The film is just so good, and I’m happy it didn’t disappoint or just all hype.
If you haven’t watched Demon Slayer, then I highly suggest you watch the show beforehand, hell, even if you haven’t watched Demon Slayer still go watch the film. I recommend watching the movie while it’s in theaters to experience the magic with the fans. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train has cemented itself in history as one of the greatest anime films of all time!
