‘Invincible’ Review!

Amazon Prime Video released one of the best comic book adaptions of all time, Invincible! Invincible was created by Robert Kirkman, both the comic and show, which helped a lot too. The series has fantastic storytelling, action, animation, and cast. Invincible does not disappoint at all.

Invincible follows a teen named Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) who develops powers on his 17th birthday. Mark’s father is Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), a superpowered alien from Viltrium, which is why Mark was inspired to become a superhero. As Mark begins to learn what it takes to become a superhero, he realizes that everything he once knew and wanted to be is a lot deeper and darker than he thought.

The story was just so good. From the first episode, Invincible tries to trick you early thinking this is just another coming of age generic hero show, until literally the last scene where Omni-Man kills the heroes of Guardians of the Globe, which was badass. Each episode gets more and more intense, and I was completely sucked into it. Hell, even some of the comedy that appears in the show had a lot of great timing too because lot of it lands. Invincible is only eight episodes, and it proved to me that’s how many times lighting can land the same place more than once.

I loved the animation and how insane the action was in the show. When the series goes all out, it’s just one big blood fest galore, but it works because a lot of it served a purpose and not to be bloody for no reason. The one who got bloodied the most is definitely Mark because every time he fought, which was awesome, he gets his ass whooped a lot, but hey he’s fresh on the job. The animation team went all out that’s for sure.

The cast for Invincible were all great. J.K. Simmons was pehnomenal as Omni-Man, he was my favorite overall. Steven Yeun killed it as Mark Grayson, loved Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennet, Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson was so good, the list go on. I don’t think there was actor who felt lacking, and it shows when you’re watching the series.

Invincible is just so good. I don’t think I have anything bad to say other than that I have to wait for season two because that season finale had my blood pumping. As mentioned before, this series is one of the best comic book adaptions of all time, and I hope that it continues like that as the series progress. Please watch Invincible because it deserves all the love.

Damn Amazon, first The Boys and now Invincible? Y’all are on a roll!
