Red Planet/Native Realities, which is the world’s only Native American comic shop, launched a Kickstarter campaign on May 4th. The campaign is about supporting A Howl: A Comic Collection of Wolves, Werewolves, & Rougarou that is set to release this winter.
Here’s more info about the campaign:
Native Realities Press brings you A Howl: A Comics Collection of Wolves, Werewolves, and Rougarou. From unbridled werewolves to werewolves from outer space, these unique comics are gathered together for the mature reader. Your support brings together writers and illustrators for a myriad of comics and splash art!
This collection edited by Elizabeth LaPensée (Co-Editor of Deer Woman: An Anthology, Sovereign Traces Vol. 1, MOONSHOT Vol. 3 & Editor of Sovereign Traces Vol. 2) features new comics by accomplished writers and illustrators who have a love for all things wolves, werewolves, and rougarou. We’re kicking it off with a comic by experimental, horror, crime, and science fiction writer Stephen Graham Jones (The Bird is Gone: A Manifesto, Demon Theory, Mongrels) with illustrations by Weshoyot Alvitre (Marvel’s Voices, Deer Woman, MOONSHOT Vol. 2 & 3)! We’ve also lined up werewolf prose written by Jay Odjick (KAGAGI: The Raven, Blackflies, Bear for Breakfast) illustrated by Krystal Cox, werewolves etched in surreal linework by illustrator and writer Maria Wolf Lopez (By the Horns, Women of Marvel, Deer Woman), werewolves facing off with emergency medical services thanks to illustrator and writer Sadekaronhes Esquivel (MOONSHOT Vol. 3), and werewolves from space (space… space… space…) by illustrator and writer Dale Ray Deforest (Hero Twins, The Powwow Mystery, Trickster). Plus splash art by Wolf Tomoyaketu, Rhonda Lucy, and Ovila Mailhot!
