‘RedShift’ Issue One Review- A Great Start For A Sci-Fi Series!

Redshift #1, from Scout Comics, is a space adventure comic that caught me by surprise, and in a good way. The comic is written by H.S. Tak (IDW’s BOY-1) and art from Brent David McKee (IDW, Dark Horse, and more).

Redshift is about humanity being on the brink of extinction while they live out on mars. Hellener Drake is recruited to look for new planets that the human race could live on, but it’s also the same mission that was responsible for his mother’s death. Will Hellener and his crew be able to succeed on their mission? We shall see!

The story for Redshift #1 was a great start, and definitely left me wanting for more. As someone who’s into space drama and sci-fi, this was up my alley. Plus, I got to give props to H.S. Tak’s way of storytelling because it didn’t feel over complicated when I was reading Redshift because a lot of sci-fi related comics tend to feel bloated and tries to give you too much in one issue.

I really enjoyed the art from Brent David McKee and the coloring by Sebastian Cheng. Redshift looked amazing, which really complimented the storytelling. Overall, I was impressed with the art direction for the comic.

If you’re into sci-fi, space drama, and the possibility of humanity being on its last legs, then you should definitely give Redshift #1 a shot.
