I had a lot of time to process Marvel Studios’ Eternals after watching the film last night, and…it’s a fantastic film. Believe me, if the film was terrible, especially this is my favorite Marvel team, then I would be extremely critical about it, but good thing Eternals blessed my eyes! Everything about this film from story to cinematography was just incredible, and honestly, this is probably in my top 5 when it comes to MCU films. Let’s jump into the rest of the review!

Marvel Studios’ Eternals is directed by Chloé Zhao, and based on the story created by Jack Kirby aka King! The film is about the Eternals who are a race of immortals with super powers created by the Celestials. Eternals secretly lived on earth for thousands of years to make sure the evolution of the human race goes about and while protecting the planet from evil, known as the Deviants. Deviants has returned to the present day, and it’s up to the Eternals to team up once again to stop them from causing havoc before it’s too late.

Eternals is my favorite team in all of Marvel, and I was not disappointed by the story at all! In this film you get a lot of exposition and lore in the MCU, plus the huge purpose of the characters. You’ll get a slow start in beginning, but the payoff is worth it. From beginning to end I just had a huge smile on my face because of how well written the story was, especially as someone who grew up with these characters.

The only time I felt like the plot didn’t really land for me was the villain in the film, Kro. I think Kro could’ve been utilized better in the film because he did feel like a waste of time. Also, he didn’t have sun glasses. That’s my nitpick for the story.

The cast were fantastic in Eternals! Everyone just did a swell job and their performances made me connected with the characters. Also, I’m super happy how diverse and inclusive the cast are from gender, disabilities, POC, LGBT+, and more!

When it comes to show stealing for me, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo was just my absolute favorite. Every time he was on the screen I cracked up and the rest of the theater as well. So yeah, more Kingo please.

Oh, and the performances from Angelina Jolie as Thena and Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos were just amazing. I was so amazed with how they were delivering their lines and expressing emotions, it was so good. I definitely got to give them a round of applause.

Overall, the casting choices was just superb, every single one!

This is the best looking MCU film by far. The camera work and visuals was just stunning, and made my mouth open during many moments in the film. I also loved the action scenes as well because it just looked so good, like really damn good. I would want more Marvel films to look like this that’s for sure.

My only gripe I have with the Eternals is the use of colors. Don’t get me wrong, I love the film’s look, but it’s not enough Kirby. I would’ve liked to see more crazy usage of colors, but hopefully I can get that with the sequel.

When it comes to the score, I was impressed. With these god like characters, the music gets the job done to make you feel like how important they are. The music was melting my soul and made me feel reborn again…I think that’s a good way to praise a film score right? Regardless, it was good.

Marvel Studios’ Eternals was an experience, and I haven’t felt like that since watching Avengers: Endgame. Everything about this film made me happy and satisfied as a long time Eternals fan. I’m going to see this a few more times in the theaters before it releases physically/digitally.

Go watch Eternals because I promise you it’s worth it.
