The year is about to end (this is the longest and quickest year ever) and a thicc load of games came out. Here’s my list of the top 5 games of 2021, no specific order either so it won’t be numbered. Enjoy, and share your favorite games of the year too!
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… is the remastered version of the 2010 game, and it was an incredible experience. The storytelling from Yoko Taro is out of this world, and just like his other games, I questioned my humanity. Also, this had my favorite soundtrack of the year and I listened to it almost every chance I get. I loved the overall gameplay experience as well, and I thought it was genius because it’ll give you a reason to replay it over and over again. Just a beautiful game.
Resident Evil Village
Resident Evil Village rejuvenated the franchise, and that’s a fact. This game took the best parts of the previous games and just made it work for Village. The graphics were incredible, I loved the gameplay, and the cast was awesome. The only thing I wished was in the game is that I saved Lady Dimitrescu because I know she didn’t want this life. I know J. Cole said “Don’t save her she don’t wanna be saved,” but sometimes you got to try.
343 Industries finally got it right! Halo Infinite was such an addicting game from storytelling, bringing in old and new gameplay mechanics, amazing score, and badass enemies. Making Halo a sandbox game was a good move for the franchise. As a long time Halo fan, this is one of the best games in the series in years.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
This one was a no brainer. Insomniac Games not only released one of the best games of 2021, but the best PlayStation game this year as well! When I first played Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, I was just blown away with literally everything about this game. This game really showed the true power of the PS5, and as a fan of the Ratchet & Clank series, this might be my favorite.
Life Is Strange: True Colors
Have you ever experienced love at first sight? I did when I played Life Is Strange: True Colors! I was just so emotionally invested with the characters, and that’s because of how good the cast was. The important messages about mental health was done great. My favorite story in the series, and I’ve played this game three times. Yeah, it’s that good.
