Thanks to the awesome people over at Funimation/Crunchyroll, I was able to watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and it did not disappoint at all. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is one of my favorite stories in the series created by Gege Akutami, so I can say without a doubt that this film did an amazing job adapting it. From cast, music, and animation, this movie has it all!

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prequel, created by Gege Akutami, story that follows a nervous high school student, Yuta Okkotsu. Yuta gets recruited by Satoru Gojo and joins Jujutsu High School, so he can learn how to harness the power of a curse named Rika, who was once his childhood friend. While training at Jujutsu High School, Yuta will learn how to be confident in himself while dealing with incredible threats that could harm his friends.

The film was created by MAPPA and directed by Sunghoo Park, which are the same team behind the Jujutsu Kaisen anime, so you know you’re going to get greatness. If you’re a fan of the manga, you’ll be happy to know that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 pretty much adapted the whole thing to a tee, and with a few extra scenes that’ll make you happy that it’s in the film. This was an easy home run for MAPPA. Also, if you aren’t familiar with Jujutsu Kaisen, this is an easy starting point for you and join our cult.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 really solidified the fact how much I loved this arc in the manga. To see the story in motion was just satisfying, and I’m happy that this film does the story justice.

The cast for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was great! I was able to watch the film both subbed and dubbed, and as someone who has never watched the show in English, I was amazed! No matter the version, Jujutsu Kaisen 0‘s cast is killer.

Time to talk about my favorite best boy, Yuta Okkotsu, which I’ve waited a long time to see him animated. Kayleigh McKee (English) and Megumi Ogata (Japanese) both did a phenomenal job playing the character. The actors was able to get the tone right on how I heard him in my head when I read the manga.

Anairis Quiñones (English) and Kana Hanazawa (Japanese) did an awesome portrayal as Rika Orimoto. I enjoyed how how cursed Rika sounded, especially Anairis Quiñones take on the character.

Allegra Clark (English) and Mikako Komatsu (Japanese) plays my favorite character in JJK, Maki Zen’in. As always, Mikako Komatsu did a swell job like she does in the series. Now with Allegra Clark, I’ve never heard Maki in English, but holy hell! Allegra is a certified badass.

Toge Inumaki is voiced by Xander Mobus (English) and Koki Uchiyama (Japanese). If you know Toge Inumaki, he doesn’t say much, but when things gets serious then you know what to expect. Xander Mobus and Koki Uchiyama did a good job overall.

Matthew David Rudd (English) and Tomokazu Seki (Japanese) voices the everyone’s favorite Panda! There was a scene that cracked me up, and it was delivered so well. What a solid portrayal of the character.

Satoru Gojo, voiced by Kaiji Tang (English) and Yuichi Nakamura (Japanese), was A-1! Again, I was familiar with Yuichi Nakamura’s performance of the character in the anime, so it was my first time hearing the English voice. Kaiji Tang was so good as Gojo, completely nailed it.

And last but not least, Suguru Geto, voiced by Lex Lang (English) and Takahiro Sakurai (Japanese). Both actors just knows how to play someone so sinister as Geto. And in my opinion, Geto sounded even better in the movie than in the series!

As you can see, just praises all around. And to praise the English cast even more, I’m going to rewatch the series again dubbed because this movie solde me.

If you’ve watched any anime by MAPPA, then you know Jujutsu Kaisen 0‘s animation is going to look incredible! From the simple movements to the action, just a sight to behold. Just so fluid and fantastic. Also, the character designs were impressive as well.

The score in the film, round of applause! Each scene that had a music played out were all great! I wasn’t surprised because the anime always had amazing music, so you know they had to bring their ‘A’ game.

If you’re a fan of the JJK anime or any MAPPA project, then you can expect the same greatness for Jujutsu Kaisen 0!

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 just does everything right in my book. Also, I’ll even say that this is already one of my favorite films in 2022, that’s how good it is. Everyone involved with the making of the movie, y’all made made a fan very happy, and I can’t wait to watch it again in IMAX!

Jujutsu Kaisen fans, this film is IT! And, welcome to the ones who will become fans after seeing this movie.
