This was something that I was not expecting. The director of Marvel Studios’ Blade, Bassam Tariq, has departed from the film.
From THR, here’s what their article reported:
“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film,” Marvel said in a statement to THR. “We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is.”
Tariq thanked Marvel in his own statement: “It’s been an honor working with the wonderful folks at Marvel. We were able to put together a killer cast and crew. Eager to see where the next director takes the film.”
I was looking forward to see how Bassam Tariq would do directing the film, but I guess I can stop now. Also, apparently things behind the scenes were a lot more difficult than what is being reported. Oh well, whoever directs this film should know there’s going to be a big chip on their shoulder because a lot of fans are looking forward to the movie.
