Thanks to Crunchyroll, I had the opportunity to watch That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond, and what a film it was. As someone who isn’t too familiar with the franchise, I can honestly say that it made me a fan. This film does a lot of things right in my book. The review will be spoiler-free, so enjoy!

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond takes place after the ending of season 2 of the anime series. The story follows Demon Lord Rimuru Tempest, and he meets the sole survivor of the Ogre race named Hiro. Also, a long-running conspiracy in a small country west of Tempest, Raja, has been circling around that the Queen has a mysterious power. Bonds will be put to the test in this adventure packed story as things unveils.

As mentioned earlier in the review, I wasn’t too familiar with the franchise at all other than the first episode that I’ve seen when it first released back in 2018. After watching the film, I’ve been missing out big time! That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond has great storytelling all around from the emotional beats, the comedy, character developments, and more. The film did a good job of giving an understanding on what the franchise is about, so I’m completely sold and understand why the series is so popular.

That should tell you how much how much I enjoyed the film. Everything about it is very well written, and left me wanting for more. I can’t wait to dive into the series to go back and watch the film again. Why have I never started earlier?!

I watched the film subbed, so I can only give my opinion on the Japanese cast. The cast overall was amazing. I really did enjoy the performances of Yuuma Uchida as Hiro, which was the highlight for me. Again, great cast all around in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond.

The animation for the film is good. When the film gets into the action, the animation looks incredible! I also enjoy the designs of the characters and how they’re drawn as well, especially since this is my first time getting my feet wet with the anime. The visuals of the film in general looked great.

I loved the score for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond. Right off the bat, the music was just amazing during the scene with Hiro. The score is solid throughout, and kudos to the sound design team as well.

I believe fans of the series will not be disappointed with That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond. Hell, even the film made me a fan and I have little to no knowledge, until now. I had a good time watching the film and I think it’s worth your time to watch it.

I recommend That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond!
